A BETTER THING

Ask Dwayne how he’s doing and his standard response is:  “I’m blessed and highly favored.” I LOVE THAT!

A phrase in Hebrews 11:40 grabbed me today.  It reads: “God having provided some better thing for us…”  This comes at the end of a long list of things God did for people who put faith in Him in the Old Testament.  Some of these HERO’s of faith you may recognize:  Abraham and Sarah, Jacob, Moses, Rahab, Samson, David, Samuel…  We know what happened with these people.  With God they accomplished the impossible.  So, how is it we have “some GREATER THING?” 

The fact is we have Jesus Christ whose blood cleanses us from all unrighteousness; we have the Holy Spirit who indwells us; we have the Bible which instructs and provides us with ALL the information we need to live productive and blessed lives. 

We are in a topsy-turvy time because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  While we practice “social-distancing,” wouldn’t it be wonderful to make a special effort to get close to God: to read, study and practice His Word, pray, praise, worship and love.  Let’s find out about the “better thing” talked about in Hebrews 11:40 and bask in the love of God.  For truly Dwayne is right-on when he, as a child of the KING responds:  “I’m blessed and highly favored.”
